Mrs. Amy Merrill is an elementary school librarian and also a member of the New York State Reading Association Charlotte Award Committee. She writes an article for NYSRA’s Reading Scene, called, “Book Banter.” “Book Banter” is a feature in the newsletter where she banters about books that educators should make sure they put into the hands of readers. What an honor to be featured on her blog!

 The Brown Bookshelf is a blog designed to push awareness of African American voices writing for young readers. In celebration of Black History Month, they feature 28 African American authors and illustrators each day to highlight, their journey, writing process and recent books.
